Gareth Bale -where next for the Real Madrid man? |
Gareth Bale says he would consider a return to the Premier League if Real Madrid let him leave, but where could he go?
Bale blames the Spanish club for not allowing him to leave sooner and says it is nice to feel "appreciated" when he joins up with the Wales squad. The 31-year-old almost left Real Madrid last summer for a move to China but it was blocked at the last minute.
Since last summer, Bale has made just 20 appearances for Real and only two of those came after football's restart following lockdown.
Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane said Bale didn't want to play in their Champions League last-16 second leg with Manchester City last month. The Welshman says he wants to play football and would consider a return to the Premier League if Real Madrid allows him to move on.
Dayot Upamecano to Man United: Arsenal and Tottenham could have signed RB Leipzig star for £2m, now here’s why Red Devils are willing to spend big
Manchester United has sprung into life in the summer transfer window and look set to sign one of the most promising center-backs in Europe.
Having got their £40m deal for Ajax star Donny van de Beek over the line, United are now turning their attention to RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano.

What’s the gossip?
Upamecano is no stranger to Premier League links, having come close to joining Arsenal, Tottenham, and United in the past. Arsenal was very interested in Upamecano last summer and it is understood the player was also keen to join. However, with his release clause set at 60m euros, Arsenal considered the defender too expensive. Tottenham will also be thinking about ‘what could’ve been’ had they signed Upamecano as a 16-year-old. He was identified by Spurs scouts as an outstanding prospect in 2015, but the Premier League club couldn’t compete with Red Bull’s financial muscle.

The transfer window officially opened the day after the campaign ended and will run for 10 weeks before shutting on October 5. While spending may dip due to the effects of the pandemic, for everyone except Chelsea it seems, a host of big deals are still expected this summer, and here are all the confirmed transfers so far.
